The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduate (NEET PG) is a national-level medical entrance examination conducted by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS). It is the single entrance examination for admission to postgraduate medical courses, including MD, MS and PG Diploma programmes in India, subject to the applicable admission rules.
NEET PG 2027 Introduction, Exam Overview & Exam Date
NEET PG is an important examination for MBBS graduates seeking postgraduate medical education in clinical and non-clinical specialities. Candidates who qualify in the examination can participate in the subsequent admission process through the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) and respective state counselling authorities, depending on the type of seat and institution.
The NEET PG 2027 examination cycle will include several important stages, beginning with the release of the information bulletin and online registration, followed by the examination, result declaration and postgraduate medical counselling. Candidates should keep track of official announcements from NBEMS, MCC and the relevant state counselling authorities throughout the admission process.
As of November 1, 2026, NBEMS has not announced the official NEET PG 2027 examination date or released its 2027 information bulletin. Therefore, candidates should treat the dates and schedules discussed using the 2026 session as historical references rather than confirmed dates for 2027.

The availability of correction facilities and the list of editable fields will be specified in the NEET PG 2027 notification.
As per the NEET PG 2026 session: NBEMS provided a general edit window from July 25 to July 28, 2026, followed by a selective edit window from July 31 to August 10, 2026, for rectifying deficient or incorrect photographs, signatures and thumb impressions.

Important Details to Check Before Submitting the Application
Candidates should pay particular attention to their name, date of birth, nationality, mobile number, email address, category, MBBS details, internship dates and medical registration information.
In the 2026 session, NBEMS restricted changes to certain important details, including name, nationality, email address, mobile number and other specified particulars. Some address and examination preference fields were also restricted from modification.

Any additional document specifically instructed by NBEMS.
The accepted identity documents and other requirements will be mentioned in the NEET PG 2027 admit card and test-day advisory.
Important: Candidates should not rely on photocopies or digital images of identity documents unless NBEMS explicitly permits them.
NEET PG 2027 Test City Intimation Slip
The test city intimation slip and admit card are two different documents.
The test city intimation slip informs candidates about the city allotted for their examination. It helps them plan their travel and accommodation before the examination. However, it is not an entry document for the examination centre.
The admit card contains the actual examination centre address and other details required on examination day.
As per the NEET PG 2026 session: NBEMS issued the test city intimation on August 12, 2026, while the admit card was released on August 27, 2026.
NEET PG 2027 Exam Pattern
The NEET PG 2027 examination pattern will be confirmed through the official NBEMS information bulletin. Until then, candidates can refer to the revised examination scheme introduced for the 2026 session.
As per the NEET PG 2026 session, NBEMS revised the examination pattern to 180 multiple-choice questions (MCQs), replacing the earlier format of 200 questions. The examination was conducted in a single shift, with a total duration of 3 hours and 30 minutes (210 minutes).
Previous NEET PG Exam Pattern
| Particulars | Details |
|---|---|
| Examination mode | Computer-based test |
| Total questions | 180 |
| Question type | Multiple-choice questions |
| Options per question | 4 |
| Total marks | 720 |
| Examination duration | 210 minutes |
| Number of sections | 5 |
| Questions per section | 36 |
| Time per section | 42 minutes |
| Correct answer | +4 marks |
| Incorrect answer | -1 mark |
| Unattempted question | 0 marks |
| Examination language | English |
Note: This is the examination scheme followed in 2026. NBEMS may revise the pattern for NEET PG 2027.
NEET PG 2027 Marking Scheme
The marking scheme determines how candidates receive marks for correct, incorrect and unanswered questions.
As per the 2026 examination pattern:
-
Correct answer: 4 marks.
-
Incorrect answer: 1 mark deducted.
-
Unattempted question: No marks awarded or deducted.
With 180 questions carrying four marks each, the maximum possible score under the 2026 pattern was 720 marks.
For example, if a candidate answers 150 questions correctly, gives 20 incorrect answers and leaves 10 questions unanswered, the calculated score would be:
| Response | Calculation | Marks |
|---|---|---|
| Correct answers | 150 × 4 | 600 |
| Incorrect answers | 20 × -1 | -20 |
| Unattempted | 10 × 0 | 0 |
| Total score | 580/720 |
The actual marking scheme for NEET PG 2027 will be subject to the official examination bulletin.
Section-wise Examination Pattern
An important change in the 2026 examination was the introduction of five time-bound sections.
Each section contained 36 questions, with 42 minutes allocated to complete it. Candidates were required to complete the questions within the prescribed time for each section.
| Section | Questions | Time allowed |
|---|---|---|
| Section A | 36 | 42 minutes |
| Section B | 36 | 42 minutes |
| Section C | 36 | 42 minutes |
| Section D | 36 | 42 minutes |
| Section E | 36 | 42 minutes |
| Total | 180 | 210 minutes |
Candidates could not return to a completed section after its allotted time had ended under the 2026 scheme.
This made time management particularly important because candidates had to complete each section within its individual time limit.
NEET PG 2027 Syllabus
The NEET PG 2027 syllabus is expected to cover the subjects and knowledge areas prescribed in the MBBS curriculum. NBEMS will provide the applicable syllabus reference in the official information bulletin.
Unlike some entrance examinations, the NEET PG syllabus is not simply a short list of selected chapters. It covers the broad medical knowledge acquired during undergraduate medical education, including pre-clinical, para-clinical and clinical subjects.
As per the previous examination bulletin, the syllabus was based on the subject and knowledge areas prescribed under the Graduate Medical Education Regulations issued by the National Medical Commission (NMC).
Pre-Clinical Subjects
Pre-clinical subjects provide the foundation of medical education. These subjects focus on the structure and normal functioning of the human body.
-
Anatomy
-
Physiology
-
Biochemistry
Para-Clinical Subjects
Para-clinical subjects cover disease mechanisms, diagnostic methods, drug therapy, microorganisms and preventive healthcare.
-
Pathology
-
Pharmacology
-
Microbiology
-
Forensic Medicine and Toxicology
-
Community Medicine (Preventive and Social Medicine)
Clinical Subjects
Clinical subjects focus on the diagnosis, treatment and management of medical and surgical conditions.
-

Candidates should also cover the relevant integrated and allied topics included in their MBBS curriculum.
Is There a Separate NEET PG 2027 Syllabus PDF?
Candidates should refer to the official NEET PG 2027 information bulletin for the syllabus reference. NBEMS has traditionally referred to the MBBS curriculum and applicable NMC regulations rather than providing a separate exhaustive chapter-wise list of every topic.
Therefore, candidates should not depend entirely on unofficial chapter-wise syllabus PDFs available online. The NMC-prescribed curriculum and the official NBEMS bulletin should be treated as the primary references.
NEET PG 2027 Examination Day Guidelines
Candidates appearing for NEET PG 2027 will have to follow the instructions issued by NBEMS for the examination. The detailed rules will be available in the admit card and test-day advisory.
Important guidelines generally include:
-
Reach the examination centre at the reporting time mentioned on the admit card.
-
Carry the printed admit card and prescribed original photo identity document.
-
Complete identity and biometric verification as instructed.
-
Follow the dress code and permitted-item instructions.
-
Do not carry mobile phones, smartwatches, calculators or other prohibited electronic devices.
-
Follow the instructions given by the examination staff.

NEET PG 2027 Answer Key, Result, Scorecard and Cut-Off
NEET PG Answer Key 2027
The NEET PG 2027 answer key will be released by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS), if it follows the answer-key process adopted in recent sessions. The official announcement and release date have not been published as of November 1, 2026.
Candidates should check the NBEMS website for the answer key rather than rely on unofficial answer keys circulated by coaching institutes. The official answer key allows candidates to compare their recorded responses with the correct answers and review the marks awarded for individual questions.
In 2026, NBEMS released the NEET PG 2026 answer key on October 1, 2026. Unlike a single common answer-key sequence, candidates could access their individual answer key through their applicant login.
The information made available included:
-
Question IDs in the sequence applicable to the candidate’s question paper.
-
Correct answer key ID for each question.
-
The response marked by the candidate.
-
Whether a question was attempted or left unanswered.
-
Marks awarded for each question.
NBEMS clarified that questions and answer options were shuffled between candidates. Therefore, the question sequence and answer-key IDs could differ between individual login accounts. Candidates needed to check their own recorded responses rather than compare answer-key IDs with another candidate’s paper.
How to check the NEET PG 2027 Answer Key
Once NBEMS makes the 2027 answer key available, candidates can follow these steps:
-
Visit the official NBEMS website: https://natboard.edu.in/
-
Open the NEET PG 2027 examination page.
-
Select the answer key or response-related link, if published.
-
Log in using the required applicant credentials.
-
Check the question IDs, correct answers and recorded responses.
-
Download or save the available information for future reference.
Important: The availability of an answer key does not necessarily mean that candidates can challenge individual answers. Candidates should follow the instructions in the official NBEMS notice for the relevant session.
NEET PG Result 2027
The NEET PG 2027 result will be declared by NBEMS. The result date has not yet been announced. Candidates should refer to the official examination notice for the confirmed result date and instructions.
The result is important because it provides the candidate’s overall NEET PG rank and score, which are used in the subsequent postgraduate admission process. However, qualifying NEET PG does not itself guarantee an MD, MS or PG Diploma seat. Admission depends on the candidate’s rank, category, preferences, seat availability and applicable counselling rules.
In 2026, NBEMS declared the NEET PG 2026 result on September 24, 2026. The result was published online, and candidates could check their result using the official NBEMS result link. The 2026 result included candidates’ scores and NEET PG ranks. NBEMS also announced the category-wise minimum qualifying marks. Individual scorecards and answer-key information were made available from October 1, 2026.
How to check NEET PG Result 2027
Candidates will be able to check their result by following these steps after the result is declared:
-
Visit the official NBEMS website.
-
Open the NEET PG 2027 examination section.
-
Find the NEET PG 2027 result notification.
-
Open the result link or result PDF.
-
Search for the candidate’s roll number in the result list.
-
Check the result and follow the instructions for downloading the individual scorecard.
The result PDF and individual scorecard serve different purposes. Candidates should download the individual scorecard when NBEMS makes it available.
NEET PG 2027 Scorecard
The NEET PG 2027 scorecard will contain the candidate’s examination performance and other details specified by NBEMS. The exact scorecard format and release date will be confirmed through the official notification.
Candidates should preserve a copy of their scorecard because it may be required during counselling, document verification and admission.
In 2026, NBEMS made individual NEET PG 2026 scorecards available from October 1, 2026. Candidates could download their scorecards through the NBEMS website using their applicant login. As per the 2026 announcement, scorecards were available for download for six months from the date of issue. Candidates were advised to download and retain a copy.
How to download the NEET PG 2027 Scorecard
After the scorecard link is activated, candidates can generally follow this process:
-
Visit https://natboard.edu.in/
-
Open the NEET PG 2027 examination page.
-
Select the scorecard download link.
-
Log in using the required application credentials.
-
Open the individual scorecard.
-
Download and save the scorecard as a PDF.
Candidates should check that their name, roll number, score and rank are displayed correctly.
NEET PG 2027 Cut-Off
The NEET PG cut-off refers to the minimum qualifying percentile that candidates must achieve to become eligible for the counselling process. NBEMS announces the qualifying criteria and corresponding marks for different categories with the result.
The NEET PG 2027 qualifying cut-off has not been announced. It should not be confused with the marks required to obtain a particular clinical or non-clinical speciality. The qualifying cut-off only determines eligibility; the actual rank required for a seat depends on the counselling process, category, speciality, college and available seats.
NEET PG 2026 Cut-Off (As per the 2026 session)
NBEMS announced the following minimum qualifying criteria for NEET PG 2026:
| Category | Qualifying percentile | Cut-off marks (out of 720) |
|---|---|---|
| General / EWS | 50th percentile | 262 |
| General PwBD | 45th percentile | 244 |
| SC / ST / OBC, including PwBD candidates of these categories | 40th percentile | 226 |
These were the qualifying marks announced with the NEET PG 2026 result on September 24, 2026.
Difference between qualifying cut-off and admission cut-off
The qualifying cut-off and admission cut-off are not the same.
The qualifying cut-off is the minimum percentile and corresponding marks required to become eligible for counselling. The admission cut-off refers to the closing rank or score at which a particular college and speciality offer a seat during counselling.
For example, a candidate may qualify NEET PG but may not obtain a seat in their preferred speciality or college. The final admission outcome depends on the candidate’s rank, category, seat availability, choices filled and counselling rules.
Can the NEET PG cut-off be reduced?
Yes. The qualifying percentile may be revised by the competent authorities for a particular admission session. If the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare issues directions to lower the qualifying percentile, NBEMS may publish revised cut-off scores.
Such a revision is not automatic and should not be assumed for NEET PG 2027. Candidates should follow official NBEMS and MCC announcements for any changes.
Candidates should use the following official resources for examination updates.
MCC NEET PG Counselling 2027
MCC NEET PG counselling is the online admission process through which eligible candidates are allotted postgraduate medical seats under the quotas and institutions handled by the Medical Counselling Committee.
The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), under the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), conducts counselling for 50% All India Quota (AIQ) MD/MS seats, as well as seats in Central Universities, Deemed Universities and other participating institutions as specified in the counselling scheme.
For NEET PG 2027, the counselling schedule, registration dates, seat matrix and detailed rules have not yet been announced. Candidates should refer to the 2027 MCC information bulletin when it is published.
MCC and state counselling are not the same process. State counselling authorities separately conduct admission to state quota seats and other seats under their respective jurisdiction. Candidates interested in both AIQ and state quota seats may need to register separately on the relevant counselling portals.

NEET PG 2027 Counselling Process
The NEET PG counselling process generally involves registration, payment of the counselling fee, choice filling, choice locking, seat allotment and reporting to the allotted college.
The process is conducted online through the MCC portal. Candidates should carefully read the counselling information bulletin because eligibility, registration rules, exit options and seat acceptance conditions can affect their admission.
The following steps explain the process using the 2026 counselling structure as a reference.
1. MCC NEET PG Counselling Registration 2027
Candidates who want to participate in MCC counselling will have to register through the official MCC website during the notified registration period.
The registration process generally involves entering the required personal and examination details, creating or accessing a candidate account, and submitting the counselling application.
Candidates should keep their NEET PG application details, registered mobile number and email address accessible. In the 2026 process, MCC used the mobile number and email address provided during the NBEMS examination application.
A candidate should complete registration before the deadline. MCC does not generally accept requests for registration after the notified registration window closes.
2. MCC NEET PG Counselling Fee 2027
Candidates are required to pay a non-refundable registration fee and a refundable security deposit, depending on the quota and institution type selected.
The NEET PG 2027 counselling fee has not been announced. The following fee structure is based on the 2026 session.
MCC NEET PG Counselling Fee 2026 (As per the 2026 session)
| Quota / Institution | Category | Registration fee | Security deposit |
|---|---|---|---|
| 50% AIQ / Central Universities / ESIC / DNB | General / EWS | ₹1,000 | ₹25,000 |
| 50% AIQ / Central Universities / ESIC / DNB | SC / ST / OBC / PwD | ₹500 | ₹10,000 |
| Deemed Universities | All categories | ₹5,000 | ₹2,00,000 |
The registration fee is non-refundable, while the security deposit is refundable subject to the applicable MCC counselling rules. Candidates opting for Deemed University seats are required to pay the applicable Deemed University fee structure.
3. MCC NEET PG Choice Filling 2027
After registration, candidates can fill in their preferred colleges and postgraduate courses through the MCC portal.
Choice filling is an important part of counselling because the seat allotment process considers the candidate’s NEET PG merit position and the preferences entered during counselling.
Candidates should review the available seat matrix before selecting colleges. They can generally enter multiple college and course combinations and arrange them in their preferred order.
For example, a candidate may select:
-
MD General Medicine at College A
-
MD General Medicine at College B
-
MS General Surgery at College A
-
MD Paediatrics at College C
The actual options available will depend on the participating institutions and the seat matrix published for that counselling round.
Candidates should not select a college or speciality without reviewing its fees, location, bond conditions, stipend, service obligations and other admission requirements.
4. Choice Locking
After filling their preferences, candidates must lock their choices within the specified time.
Choice locking confirms the final order of preferences submitted for seat allotment. Candidates should not assume that saving choices automatically means they have been locked.
The choice-locking deadline is important. Once the choices are locked, changes may not be permitted except where MCC specifically allows them under the applicable counselling rules.
5. MCC NEET PG Seat Allotment
MCC processes the choices submitted by candidates according to the applicable merit and seat-allotment rules.
Seat allotment depends on factors such as:
-
NEET PG rank and merit position.
-
Category and applicable reservation rules.
-
College and speciality preferences.
-
Availability of seats in the relevant quota.
-
Eligibility for the selected seat.
MCC publishes the seat allotment result on its official website. Candidates should check the result and download the allotment letter if a seat is allotted.
6. Reporting to the Allotted College
Candidates who receive a seat must follow the reporting instructions issued for that round. They are required to report to the allotted institution within the specified period and complete the admission formalities.
Candidates should carry their original documents and the required photocopies. The college verifies the documents and completes the admission process according to the applicable rules.
Failure to report or complete the required admission formalities can lead to cancellation of the allotted seat and may affect eligibility for subsequent rounds.
MCC NEET PG Counselling 2027: All Rounds
MCC generally conducts multiple rounds of postgraduate medical counselling. The 2027 round structure and rules will be confirmed in the official counselling bulletin.
The 2027 counselling structure included the following rounds:
| Counselling round | Main purpose |
|---|---|
| Round 1 | Initial seat allotment |
| Round 2 | Further allotment and upgradation |
| Round 3 | Further allotment against available seats |
| Stray Vacancy Round | Final allotment against remaining vacant seats |
MCC NEET PG Counselling 2027 Round 1
Round 1 is the initial stage of MCC counselling. Eligible candidates register, pay the required fee, fill their choices and lock them before the deadline.
After the choice-filling period ends, MCC processes the seat allotment and publishes the result.
Candidates allotted a seat must follow the reporting instructions. Under the 2026 counselling rules, candidates allotted a Round 1 seat had a free-exit option and could participate in Round 2 according to the applicable conditions. Candidates should check the 2027 bulletin before making a decision about joining or leaving a seat.
MCC NEET PG Counselling 2027 Round 2
Round 2 provides another opportunity for candidates who are eligible under MCC rules to obtain a seat or upgrade their existing allotment.
Candidates who did not receive a seat in Round 1 may participate in Round 2. Candidates who received a Round 1 seat must follow the applicable rules concerning joining, free exit and upgradation.
The availability of fresh registration and choice filling in Round 2 is governed by the schedule and rules notified by MCC.
MCC NEET PG Counselling 2027 Round 3
Round 3 is conducted to fill seats that remain vacant after the earlier rounds. Candidates who are eligible under the counselling rules can participate by completing the required registration and choice-filling process.
Candidates should carefully review the rules concerning resignation, forfeiture of security deposit and eligibility for subsequent rounds. These conditions can differ depending on the round in which a seat was allotted and whether the candidate joined the institution.
MCC NEET PG Counselling 2027 Stray Vacancy Round
The Stray Vacancy Round is conducted to fill remaining vacant seats after the regular counselling rounds.
MCC publishes the vacant seat details and the applicable eligibility conditions before the round. Candidates must follow the specific registration and choice-filling instructions.
Under the 2026 counselling scheme, fresh registration and fresh choice filling were provided for the stray vacancy process. Candidates who had already joined or held seats could be restricted from participating, depending on the applicable rules and their counselling status.
Candidates should not rely on previous-year eligibility rules when applying for the 2027 Stray Vacancy Round. The final eligibility conditions will be those published by MCC for that session.

The final seat allotment result is the confirmed result for that round. Candidates should follow the instructions associated with the final result and download their allotment letter.
NEET PG 2027 Admission Process After Seat Allotment
Getting a seat in MCC counselling is not the final step. Candidates must complete the admission process at the allotted institution within the reporting period.
The general admission process involves:
1. Download the allotment letter: Candidates should download the seat allotment letter from the MCC portal and check the college, course and reporting instructions.
2. Report to the allotted college: Candidates must report within the deadline specified for that counselling round. They should not wait until the final day.
3. Complete document verification: The institution verifies the candidate’s educational certificates, internship completion, medical registration, identity documents and other required records.
4. Complete admission formalities: Candidates must complete the prescribed admission process and pay the applicable college fees according to the institution’s instructions.
5. Confirm admission: Candidates should ensure that their joining and admission status is properly recorded as required by MCC and the allotted institution.
Failure to report or complete the admission process can result in cancellation of the allotted seat and may affect participation in subsequent counselling rounds.
MCC NEET PG Counselling: Free Exit, Resignation and Security Deposit
Candidates should understand the exit and resignation rules before accepting or leaving an allotted seat. These rules differ between counselling rounds. The following explanation is based on the MCC NEET PG 2026 counselling scheme. The 2027 rules will be confirmed in its official information bulletin.
| Counselling situation | 2026 rule |
|---|---|
| Round 1: Not joining the allotted seat | Free exit |
| Round 2: Not joining the allotted seat | Security deposit forfeiture |
| Round 3: Not joining the allotted seat | Security deposit forfeiture and elimination from further MCC rounds |
| Round 3: Resignation after joining | Resignation / exit not permitted under the 2026 scheme |
The 2026 scheme also specified conditions for candidates who wished to resign or participate in an upgradation process. Candidates should not make decisions based only on the table above; the applicable round-specific instructions must be checked before taking action.
Important: Free exit does not mean that a candidate can leave an allotted seat at any stage without consequences. The applicable rules depend on the counselling round, whether the candidate joined and whether the candidate opted for upgradation.
NEET PG 2027 State Counselling
Apart from MCC counselling, state counselling authorities conduct admission to postgraduate medical seats under their respective state quotas and other applicable categories.
Candidates interested in state quota seats should check the counselling portal of the relevant state. Registration for MCC counselling does not automatically register a candidate for every state counselling process.
For Rajasthan, candidates should follow the official Rajasthan NEET PG counselling notifications and registration instructions separately.
The applicable eligibility, domicile requirements, reservation rules, fees, seat matrix and reporting deadlines may differ between states.
