India is witnessing a another spike in COVID-19 cases (Covid Cases India), with several states reporting fresh infections and related casualties. The emergence of new variants like JN.1 and NB.1.8.1 is under close observation by health authorities, although current strains are not considered highly lethal as per the experts around the world, but it is important to stay safe.

In a notable development, Noida recorded its first COVID-19 case this season. A 55-year-old woman tested positive for the virus on Saturday, marking the first confirmed case in Uttar Pradesh’s Noida district. Health officials have initiated contact tracing and advised caution.
India’s Active COVID Case Count Crosses 1,000
According to the latest update from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (as of 8 AM IST, May 27, 2025), the country has a total of 1,010 active COVID-19 cases. This marks a steady increase compared to previous weeks.
COVID-19 Death in Rajasthan: Case Count Rises to 23
Rajasthan reported a COVID-related fatality, where a 26-year-old man from Jaipur succumbed to the virus. The individual had been receiving treatment for tuberculosis and other chronic health issues over the past two months. He tested positive on May 24 and died on May 25.
The state’s Medical and Health Department confirmed the death on May 26. On the same day, eight new cases were logged across the state:

In Maharashtra, a 21-year-old COVID-19 patient who had been undergoing treatment at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Kalwa Hospital in Thane died on May 25, as confirmed by Thane Municipal Corporation.
Karnataka also registered its first COVID-related death of the season on May 24, according to the state Health Department.
Kerala Sees Two Fatalities
Kerala has also reported two deaths linked to COVID-19 in the past week, though health officials have not disclosed further details about the deceased.
