MD Education Desk | May 16, 2025 – In a recent update that brings relief and opportunity to super-specialty medical aspirants across India, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has announced the addition of new seats for the ongoing NEET SS Counselling 2024.
According to the official notification released by MCC, additional seats have been added in DM Cardiology and MCh Neurosurgery under Round 1 of NEET SS 202 counselling. These newly included seats are now available for choice filling and locking on the MCC’s official website www.mcc.nic.in.
Institutes Offering the New Seats
The seats have been introduced in two prominent institutions:
- DM Cardiology – Government Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala
- MCh Neurosurgery – Government Medical College, Kozhikode, Kerala

These additions come as part of the dynamic updates MCC continues to make to ensure no seat remains vacant and deserving candidates get fair opportunities to pursue higher studies in medical super-specialties.
What Candidates Should Do
All eligible candidates participating in Round 1 of NEET SS counselling are advised to revisit their choice filling section and include these newly added courses if they are interested. The MCC emphasized that seat additions are made in real-time as and when they are reported by the concerned medical colleges and approved by the National Medical Commission (NMC).
Candidates must ensure timely completion of their choice filling and locking to avoid missing out on these high-demand specialties.

The MCC has reiterated that these seat additions are final for this round and based strictly on official communication from colleges and regulatory bodies. Aspirants are urged to regularly monitor the MCC website for real-time updates during the counselling process.
