In a fresh development, Gitanjali J. Angmo, wife of Sonam Wangchuk, has written to the Medical Superintendent of Safdarjung Hospital requesting that her husband be discharged and shifted to a medical centre of the family’s choice.

In the letter dated July 18, 2026, she expressed concerns over what she described as a “lack of transparency” in Wangchuk’s medical treatment. She claimed that the family was informed his potassium level had dropped to 2.9, but alleged that hospital staff did not provide the medical report despite repeated requests.

The hospital has not yet publicly responded to the family’s request.
